Community support for a new knee.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Anita O’Shea and Scotty Alexander, as well as the overwhelming generosity of the entire Living Edge community and wider community, a very successful fundraising campaign raised in excess of $10,000 which will allow ‘Mad Jax’ Jacqui Cremer to undergo knee replacement surgery.
Hey everyone, Madjax here!!
Firstly an apology. It’s a little known fact that speaking in public is the world’s number one phobia and, believe it or not, I am one of the 75%, so I have decided that the best way for me to articulate my emotions and huge gratitude is to put it here.
I’ll never forget the first time I joined The Living Edge, I was looking for a new way to exercise and a group of friends to keep fit with. What I did find was so much more… An incredible group of people who support each other on dark mornings (and arvos) in tough times. This has been one of those times for me and I cannot thanks you ALL enough for your unbelievable generosity and support at this time and in a very real way.
This has been challenging for us to accept help, but one thing I know is that Barry and I are so grateful for the opportunity that you guys have given me to return to my kinda normality. I am proud to be part of this wonderful community!!
Thank you to Anita and Scotty for initiating and navigating this whole thing and to my OBC family for getting it all over the line.
I can’t wait to ‘get back on the horse’ and join you all again for a ‘wee jog roon the oval’ on my new knee. Watch out folks… the crazy Scot WILL be back.
All my love and gratitude, MadJax 🧡
CONGRATULATIONS to Lara Britnell (Wattle Park pm) and partner, Anthony, on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Luca on 16th July, 2023.
WELL DONE to all recruits who participated in the Trail Series event at Angelsea and to David Glascott for his successful completion of the half-marathon and the recent Run Melbourne event.
We are sad to be saying farewell to a valued recruit and winner of the 2023 Amy Su shield, Thierry Morin, who is relocating with his family to Zurich. We wish Thierry, Alex, Rose and Elliot all the very best and hope to see them again soon.
Favourite exercise: Deadlifts – such an underrated exercise but so many benefits!
Music choice: Michael Jackson and Arijit Singh
Cheat meal: KFC – wicked wings and the zinger burger are my favourites!
Spectator Sport of Choice:
I’m not an avid spectator but from what I’ve seen my choice would be basketball! It’s a fast paced, high energy sport and always exciting to watch. Nonetheless, the dance routines are my favorite part!
Phobia: Snakes and attacking birds!
Motto: Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right! – Henry Ford. I believe that your thoughts become things whether you like it or not and so this quote really resonated with me.
Perfect weekend: Eating and drinking wine with family and friends, watching movies at home with family
Victoria’s best hidden treasure: Laneway cafes & bars in the CBD, Buchan Caves, Redhill, Mount Martha
First choice for date night: Scopri Italian – excellent food and a great atmosphere for a special night out
Best destination for family holiday: so many great places to go but my kids in particular always love holidays at the Gold Coast and Noosa.
